The opportunity

Why add tattoo removal and carbon facials

These two treatments work well together for a practical reason: tattoo removal is a long course with sessions spaced weeks apart, which leaves gaps in the diary, and carbon facials are quick, visual and easy to book into them. One machine, two quite different kinds of client.

A committed course of treatment

Tattoo removal takes multiple sessions over months. Clients who start are committed, and the treatment plan is agreed up front rather than sold appointment by appointment.

A fast, visual treatment alongside

Carbon facials are quick to deliver, produce a visible result the client can see immediately, and are easy to book into the gaps between removal sessions.

A Level 5 qualification route

Laser tattoo removal has a genuine Ofqual-regulated qualification at Level 5. That is a serious credential, and it is not something an equipment-only supplier can put behind their machine.

Specification

What the machine does

  • Russian laser rod — 7mm diameter, high energy density, extended service life
  • UK Xenon lamp — imported with a 5-million-shot warranty
  • 800W system power — energy range 300–1000 mJ
  • Silver reflector — oxidation-resistant for sustained output over the device lifespan
  • Air and water dual cooling — supports 12 hours of continuous daily operation
  • 1–6 Hz pulse frequency — adjustable pacing across all treatment types
  • 8-inch touchscreen — streamlined 4-mode navigation

Revenue

Treatments you can offer

  • Laser tattoo removal
  • Carbon facials
  • Cosmetic tattoo correction — brows, lip line, SPMU
  • Sun spots, age spots and freckles

Suitability

Who this machine suits

  • Clinics in areas with little local tattoo removal provision — it is a less crowded treatment than hair reduction
  • Practitioners who want two distinct client types from a single machine
  • Businesses serving SPMU clients — cosmetic tattoo correction is a natural adjacent service
  • Clinics wanting a Level 5 regulated qualification on their treatment menu
  • Higher-throughput settings — dual cooling supports long continuous days

Training

Training and qualification

Tattoo removal is one of the treatments where the qualification genuinely matters — both for how you work and for how clients and insurers see you. Accredited training and the Level 5 regulated qualification are separate things, and it is worth choosing deliberately.

Included as standard

Accredited Laser Tattoo Removal including Carbon Facial

A hands-on practical training day at Best You Training covering both treatments — machine operation, consultation, client suitability, patch testing, treatment settings, course planning and aftercare — finishing with an accredited course completion certificate.

Upgrade option

Ofqual-regulated route

Two parts, and the distinction matters. The Level 4 Core of Knowledge for Laser and Light Devices is the regulated theory and safety foundation — it covers how laser and light interact with skin, hazards, risk assessment and the legislation around operating a device. It is a prerequisite, not a treatment qualification on its own. Alongside it you take the Level 5 Certificate in Laser Tattoo Removal, which is the practical, hands-on qualification that covers delivering the treatment itself. Both are Ofqual-regulated and awarded through VTCT/ITEC.

Questions

Before you buy

How many sessions does tattoo removal take?
It varies considerably with ink colour, depth, age and the client’s skin, and it is always assessed at consultation and patch test rather than promised up front. Course planning and setting client expectations is a core part of the training.
What is a carbon facial?
A carbon lotion is applied to the skin and the laser is passed over it. It is quick, visual and popular, and it uses the same machine — which is why it pairs well with tattoo removal in a treatment menu.
Do I need a qualification to operate this?
Requirements differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and your local authority may have its own rules. Tell us where you are based and we will explain what applies.
Is the Level 5 qualification worth it?
It is a nationally regulated qualification rather than a supplier certificate, which is a meaningfully different credential. Whether it is right for you depends on how central tattoo removal will be to your business — happy to talk it through.
Is there an ex-demo option?
Usually. Ex-demo units start at £2,895 with the same training, Launch Package and 2-year warranty as new. Check current stock.
Can I finance it?
Yes, subject to status and approval through our finance partner.
